Billing itself as a "storyteller for emerging media," Mekanism got its hands dirty on an array of projects this year. The shop, which falls into the amorphouse role of creative boutique-slash production company, was tapped by eBay to roll out the multiplatform "Love to Give" campaign, consisting of webisodes starring comedian Samantha Bee dishing out advice on how to execute "Unwrap Attacks"-- those spastic moments when people open unexpectedly awesome presents--and a site that encourages visitors to upload their own freakout experiences. Other exploits include "Pants-formation" for the Gap, a spot promoting the retailer's denim recycling program, Axe's "Dirty Morning Tests," the latest prank from the brand's The Fixer Show, and the doc short "Up There," which chornicled the making of Mother New York's evolving outdoor mural for Stella Artois and profiling artists practicing the fading art of hand painted advertising.
