U.K.-headquartered production shop Gorgeous, which previously produced out of the U.S. through a tie-up with Anonymous Content, has officially opened a U.S. office with Anna Hashmi as executive producer. Said Hashmi in a statement,
"We separated with Anonymous after 10 happy years to set up our own office." It has also signed director/famed cinematographer Ellen Kuras (pictured), who has directed commercials for Nike, AT&T
, Powerade and Delta and is a three-times recipient of the Sundance Best Cinematography award. Kuras has worked alongside Martin Scorsese, Sam Mendes, Spike Lee and Michel Gondry.
Hungry Man has signed Swedish directors Robert Nylund and Axel Laubscher in all US, UK and Brazilian markets. Laubscher (left) founded Swedish production company Social Club in 2002 and has won awards from all around the world including a Cannes Golden Lion and Swedish Golden and Silver Eggs. Nylund worked for eight years as a director at Social Club and has directed commercials in Scandinavia, Germany, Spain, Belgium, the USA and Japan. He started his directing career in 2004 and has won awards at Cannes, Spotlight, Klappe, New York Festivals, ADC, Prague International Festival, Epica, Eurobest and a gold at Cresta.
Nickolas Duarte has signed with New York-based Rated Content for US and Latin America commercial representation. Duarte has directed spots for Adidas, the NBA & Peak, and the University of Arizona.
Pulse Films USA has appointed Cory Berg as its Los Angeles-based executive producer. Berg will work from Pulse Films' partner Caviar's LA office and will initially focus on developing commercial production opportunities for roster of directors, including: Mike Piscitelli, Dave Ma, The Young Replicants, David Lewandowski and Kahlil Joseph. Berg spent most of the past decade producing commercials including the original E-Trade Baby spots.as a freelance line producer for Smuggler, Hungry Man, Partizan and StationFilm. His work spans commercials, short films, music videos and feature film development.
