Jill Applebaum, the creative who oversaw Oreo's Daily Twist campaign at Draftfcb New York, is moving to JWT New York as creative director. Applebaum will work on Diageo's Smirnoff and Nestle's Skinny Cow brands, among others. At Draftfcb New York, she served as SVP, group creative director, overseeing creative development for Kraft's Oreo brand. Prior to joining Draftfcb in 2011, Applebaum was creative director at Y&R/BrandBuzz, supervising TV, print, digital and integrated campaigns for LG Electronics, Burt's Bees, Jaguar, Sony, Tully's Coffee and AT&T. She also has held creative and copywriting positions at Young & Rubicam, Ogilvy & Mather and D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles.
Passion Pictures has signed Sam Fell, co-director of the animated feature ParaNorman, for worldwide commercials representation. Fell was nominated for both an Academy Award and a BAFTA for ParaNorman and has previously directed two other animated features; Flushed Away
, for which he also created the original story, and The Tale of Despereaux
, which he co-directed with Robert Stevenhagen and ParaNorman. Prior to directing features he was a commercials director at Aardman, where he also developed Rabbits!
, a TV series for young children.
The Los Angeles-based Traveling Picture Show Company has signed Kevin Goetz, of duo The Goetz Brothers, who is beginning his solo commercial directing career. With his brother Michael, Goetz has been directing commercials for over 12 years, for brands including Nissan, Honda, Disney, HBO, State Farm, McDonald's and BMW. The Goetz's opening design and direction for "The Wonderful World of Disney" was nominated for a prime time Emmy and their 2011 spot for "Call of Duty" was short-listed by AICP. They recently wrapped principal photography on the feature "Scenic Route".
