Director Paul Hunter and Executive Producer Kerstin Emhoff's stalwart shop produced one of the year's most controversial spots, Nike's "Earl and Tiger." Directed by Max Malkin, it put the athlete in the direct line of fire of the camera, and his late father, in order to address Woods' much publicized domestic missteps. Malkin, also a DP, then went on to apply his photographic eye to capture VW safety features "Split Second" responses, for Deutsch, L.A. Front man Hunter was fast and frenetic this year, directing soccer star Zinedine Zidane as a fencing master in a spot for adidas deodorant for Y&R Paris, but slowed it down with young spoken word artists in a campaign for Sprite, out of BBH New York. Beyond spots, the company worked with director/former CD Amir Farhang on The Late Shift With Chip & Abdul, the online film component of Crispin Porter + Bogusky's multiplatform effort for Bolthouse Farms promoting baby carrots as junk food. The shop also launched its second feature film, the critically acclaimed The Tillman Story, produced in association with Passion Pictures.
