Sony Playstation Leaves Deutsch L.A. for BBH New York
Six-year relationship led to some great creative moves, but what now under an experienced Xbox leader?By: Ann-Christine Diaz, Published: Feb 05, 2013
Sony Playstation just announced that it would be moving its creative account from Deutsch, Los Angeles to Publicis Groupe's BBH New York, which will oversee duties in both the U.S. and Canada.
The move happens in the midst of speculation that Sony Computer Entertainment will be debuting the Playstation 3's successor in the coming weeks.
The announcement comes as a blow during a great run for Deutsch L.A., which created two of the Super Bowl's most talked-about spots: VW's "Get Happy" and Taco Bell's "Viva Young." The agency's six-year relationship with Playsation has turned out some notable creative work, including two of our recent favorites featuring an all-star lineup from the PS universe. The first showed us the surprising link between these seemingly disparate figures--an everyday gamer named "Michael."
A later execution featured the cast in a mega showdown--what better way to promote the "Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale" title, which, of course, involves gamet.
At BBH New York, now led by Chief Creative Officer John Patroulis, it will be interesting to see the new developments in PS creative. Patroulis,of course, made a mark on the videogame category while at agencytwofifteen, T.A.G./McCann San Francisco, where he helped create high-profile campaigns for X-Box, including the much-celebrated Halo "Believe."
