The Directors Bureau consistently ranks as one of the most inventive contributors to the music video scene, with clips like Andy Bruntel's disturbing yet awesome "Scissor" for Liars. But in 2010 the shop also made major commercials leaps. Patrick Daughters was especially prolific on the spots scene, directing dance spectaculars for Ford Fiesta and Washington's Lottery, as well as a series of comedic quickies for Target. Mike Maguire was all funny business, turning Pittsburgh Steeler Troy Polamalu into a groundhog for TruTV's Super Bowl laffer and shooting smart-ass astronaut repartee for Dish Network, while Aaron Rose teamed with Wieden+Kennedy, Portland to document the citizens of Braddock, Pennsylvania for its "We Are All Workers" campaign. Finally, Roman Coppola was at his best directing the out there iPad app demo for The New Yorker, starring Jason Schwartzman.
