To Save Drive-Ins, Honda Launches a Twitter Auction
RPA and Leonard Maltin Will Tweet Items Up for Grabs Starting at 1 P.M. ESTPublished: Sep 12, 2013
Honda and RPA are on a mission to save the drive-in, a bit of history that's gradually being phased out across America. To raise money to save those drive-ins, the agency is holding what they're billing as the first-ever live Twitter and Vine auction. Starting 1 p.m. EST Thursday, celebrity film critic Leonard Maltin will play auctioneer. A Vine video will post on @Honda account, showing eight items up for grabs. To grab it, tweet the title of the item, price and hashtag #DriveinAuction. Auction ends at 5 p.m. EST.
What's up for grabs?
-- "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2" plush toys, autographed poster, concept artwork and Hollywood VIP package featuring tickets to the "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2" premiere and tour of the Sony Pictures and Sony Pictures Animation studio lots
-- Four Disneyland park hopper tickets and four Aquarium of the Pacific tickets
-- Basketball and license plate signed by Maroon 5, headlining the 2013 Honda Civic Tour
-- Private suite experience at Paramore concert (headlined 2010 Honda Civic Tour) at Honda Center on Oct. 19, includes tickets and catering for 16 people
There's also a 2014 Honda Odyssey available for $50,000, whcih will be promoted during the auction. That donation will go towards funding a digital projector to save another drive-in from closing.
