Breaking News Is Reported as GIFs on Tumblr Aimed at Millennials

Channel 4's 4NewsWall Site Encourages Social Sharing

The U.K.'s Channel 4 has created a digital platform aimed at 16-to-34 year olds that reinterprets breaking news stories as GIFs.

The 4NewsWall, hosted on Tumblr, lets users interact with each GIF by clicking through to a longer precis of the story, written in an informal, chatty style clearly targeted at millennials. From there, they can choose to share the GIF and story on social media.

4Creative's Jack Croft and Stacey Bird (who won the "most promising creative newcomers" award last year from the U.K.'s Creative Circle) are behind the idea and created the site with illustrator and designer Chris Rice.
