Documentary Style Film for 'Advanced Warfare' Title Peels Back Veil on Private Military Corporations

Activision teamed with Vice Media to produce an ultra-realistic documentary-style film investigating how private military corporations are becoming increasingly more influential in bringing the business of war into the private sector. The film interviews real private military professionals and academics, including P.W. Singer, director of the center for 21st century security and intelligence and senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, Erik Prince, the former U.S. Navy SEAL officer who founded government services and security company Blackwater U.S.A.. and New York Times National Security Correspondent David Sanger. They contribute to a discussion of how nations are increasingly turning to private contractors for combat services, and the potential for the growing influence of PMCs to affect the future of warfare.

Such privatization happens to be the perfect setup for the premise of Activisions's upcoming release of "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare," which features Kevin Spacey as the leader of an overly ambitious PMC. The film was conceived out of 72andSunny.

72andSunny and Activision had also gone the faux reality route for the release of previous COD title Black Ops II, in this History Channel-style film, also starring P.W. Singer and Ollie North.
