Amnesty International: Break the Law of Silence

The sound of freedom.

Editor's Pick

Amnesty International France turned online signatures into a musical 'hymn to freedom' in an interactive campaign through Paris agency La Chose. Every year the organization collects online signatures at marathondessignatures.com. This year, whenever someone signed, a new note was added to 'The Sound of Amnesty,' a song specially composed by the famous French-Israeli singer-songwriter, Yael Naim.

The campaign also used music-recognition service Shazam to promote the site. When the app did not recognize a song, in addition to the usual error message users received a message from Amnesty directing them to the site. Altogether 150,000 signatures were collected, a 500% increase on the previous year. The song was made into a CD and sent to Amnesty's targeted authorities.
