Events such as the current U.S. administration's recent travel ban have led to undue mistreatment and discrimination towards Muslims and Arabs, including their mischaracterization by some as "terrorists" or hate-mongerers. But a beautiful, subversive idea from Amnesty International New York and TBWA/RAAD aims to fight that perception through design.

Amnesty and TBWA were behind "The Skins of Peace," a collection of passport sleeves featuring powerful messages of love inspired by the Quran, the holy book of Islam. Written in English, they're made even more compelling with gorgeous artwork, created by designers from all over the world. So far, more than 50 talents contributed their designs at www.skinsofpeace.com. Other creatives are invited to download the specs and upload their own creations

Amnesty will be producing some of the best designs with the ultimate goal of distributing them at major airports and retailers. So far, along with TBWA, Amnesty has produced a limited run of the designs to be sold on Souq.com, but they are still seeking investors and retailers to scale the idea globally. Proceeds will go to support the work of Amnesty International USA to support refugee rights and tackle Islamophobia.
