Animal Systems: Chirp App

Let your phone sing a link.

Editor's Pick

Chirp is a new iPhone app that lets users share links and files wirelessly using soundwaves, instead of Wi-Fi, NFC or Bluetooth. The phone will "chirp" a short sound, like a birdsong, into which is encoded the location of a picture or website, as it sends files to others. It was developed by British company Animal Systems, which modeled the app on the way birds and other wild animals communicate. Users upload their link to their cloud hosting service, which assigns it a unique address - and it can then be sent to friends within the hearing range. The app is currently available for iPhone only.
