Argos Is the Latest Advertiser to Reference the John Lewis Christmas Ad

'Buster the Boxer' Has Also Spawned Several Hilarious Parodies

Perhaps the ultimate sign that you've become part of the national conversation is when other advertisers start to reference your work. If so, John Lewis has made it.

First Aldi paid tribute to the John Lewis 2016 Christmas spot, with an online video that showed its character, Kevin the Carrot, sitting down to watch the ad. Now Argos has got in on the act, posting a film showing one of the purple yetis from its own Christmas campaign bouncing on a trampoline. Created by content agency AllTogetherNow, the clip highlights its 149 pound price offer and same-day delivery on a trampoline.

Other brands to pay tribute to John Lewis include Tennents Lager, which made a spoof of the ad promoted with the line "If John Lewis was filmed in Scotland," mashing up the ad with a Scottish YouTube clip of a trampoline rolling down a street.

That's not to mention the many parodies of the John Lewis ad, including a much-shared film by Irish website Joe.ie that mashes up the U.S. Election results with the trampoline film, casting the little girl as Hillary Clinton and Trump as the dog.
