The Duchess of Cambridge's first official portrait may have had many, including Jezebel and us, gasping in horror at how old and ordinary the gorgeous Kate Middleton has been made to appear. But this illuminating video featuring art historian Christopher Lloyd, explains how the art history major's decision to choose that particular artist and style of painting probably was a conscious one -- to appear ordinary, someone you might just pass on the street, as a message, perhaps, to girls everywhere that it's okay to look how you look.
