Six months ago, Sid Lee Paris and Unit9 worked on an artistic project for Ubisoft's game, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. The project asked fans to log on to a site and place their faces on characters inside an 18th century classical art painting crafted by artists from L'Ecole Nationale des Beaux Arts in Paris. The painting features a battle scene from the "Age of Piracy," where the game is set. Once fans put their faces in, the best ones were immortalized.
Now, Unit9 takes us behind the scenes of the historic project, which culminated in the final art displayed in Le Musee de la Marine this Fall. The video here shows the students at the school receiving the shots of the winners, and how they spent a month painting them onto the canvas, as fans around the world watched via live streaming. .
