'Homeless' Mannequins Turn into Piggy Banks to Raise Funds for BADT

Homeless Advocacy Org Raises Funds at Moment of Greatest Empathy

Editor's Pick

JWT Amsterdam raised money for the homeless by putting more homeless people on the street -- specifically, plastic "homeless" mannequins. In a stunt for Belangenbehartiging Amsterdamse Dak- en Thuislozen (BADT), an advocacy organization for the homeless, the agency put mannequins in shabby used clothes out on the street. Each of them had a rough cut-out money slot on the top of their heads. It was a smart way to gather donations at the moment of most sympathy -- when passersby passed these "homeless people" sleeping on the street, or huddled under blankets.
