Banana Republic is apparently the favored clothier of hot men who are really into books, if you trust some of the latest sightings on the popular Instagram account Hot Dudes Reading, which collects posts of handsome gents reading books on the NYC subway and at other city spots.
Some of the recent photos feature literary hotties outfitted in apparel from the retailer's Spring line, along with the humorous descriptions characteristic of the blog. For example, one reads: "I'm not usually one to judge a book by its cover, but with something this gorgeous I'll make an exception. #notjusttalkingabouttheblazer" @hotdudesreading x #thenewBR."
The idea is actually part of the brand's latest men's push, conceived out of its in-house marketing team, who partnered with the creators of the account for a series of posts which will appear both on Banana Republic and the @hotdudesreading Instagram accounts.
"The team came up with the idea of partnering with @hotdudesreading as a fun and relevant way to display new product," said a Banana Republic spokesperson.
The campaign also has a socially-conscious component too, as it's also meant to help amplify the efforts of #HotDudesReadingforaCause, which encourages donations to the non-profit organization First Book, a U.S. nonprofit that seeks to provide books for disadvantaged kids.
