The backstory in a nutshell: During a live World Cup soccer broadcast last year, former Barcelona goalkeeper Julen Lopetegui mysteriously fainted, which became the subject of much blogospheric chatter and the usual YouTube exposure. Banco Gallego and Madrid agency Shackleton — which has also been named Direct Agency of the Year at Cannes — cleverly explained the faint as the result of Lopetegui seeing a sign for the bank's astounding interest rates, with a doctored video to that effect, supported by print, direct mail and other media. For the Spanish finance sector, this was apparently the equivalent of Spain winning the World Cup. See the PDF for details.
