Last week's 43rd annual D&AD Awards were stingy with the coveted Black Pencils as usual, with only four of these Gold honors handed out, and only one in a non-TV category: an Environmental Design & Architecture prize for France's stunning Millau Viaduct, which can be seen in the PDF. Closer to home, there were more than a few print/design Silver winners, however, and some of them are seen here as well, led by a marvelous "Chinatown" Berlitz ad from Germany's Scholz & Friends. Also in this showcase: Volkswagen "Crosswords" print from DDB/London; Nikon's "School Photo" poster from Naga DDB Malaysia; three Bisley office equipment posters from Germany's Kolle Rebbe Werbeagentur; a Ballpoint exhibition catalog from Pentagram/London for The Gallery at Pentagram; and exceedingly inventive packaging for Japan Tobacco's Hope Super Lights from Dentsu/Tokyo.
