This week has already seen Always raise the question of why there aren't more empowering female emojis. Now, U.K. feminine hygiene brand Bodyform has waded into the debate, by starting a campaign for emojs that center around women's periods.
The SCA-owned brand is calling for the introduction of "Femojis," and started an online petition to get Unicode to add them. It points out that: "Based on the current emoji keyboard, women can be a princess and send each other lipstick and nail polish symbols, but for the important things in life, like our periods, there is no way to express ourselves in this new universal language."
Althoug the six new emojis Bodyform has come with are all pink (so Always might disapprove), they're not afraid to address the reality of how women feel during the time of the month, with symbols for cramps, pimples, feeling bloated, and suffering from PMS.
The petition will be submitted by March 21 to Unicode.
