Much like Americans who wait months for new "Downton Abbey" seasons to make it across the pond and onto their screens every year, French TV buffs have grown weary of waiting six months for U.S. shows to air on their end. So satellite broadcast provider Canal Sat tapped agency BETC to launch this spot titled "The Battle," to take the piss out of the drawn-out process and promote the immediacy of its service.
Director Thierry Poiraud depicts a Game of Thrones-style battle scene that takes place in slow motion -- seasons pass as warriors sluggishly throw down their axes and anticipate snail-paced firey arrows piercing their chests -- until one soldier decides he's had enough waiting for the show to be broadcast in France. He throws down his sword, walks out of the scene speedily and declares that he's headed over to Canal Sat.
The ad ends with the announcement that season five of Game of Thrones will air in France the same time as it does in the States, as will 26 other shows.
