Art is all the rage among app developers, and hot on the heels of Google Art Project and others here comes UffiziTouch,an app for iPad and iPhone from Italian digital imaging company, Centrica, which lets you explore Florence's Uffizi Gallery in depth.

The app allows you to explore high resolution 100 megapixel images of the Gallery's masterpieces, such as Botticelli's Venus, and to search by artist, historical period or location. There's also a room by room viewing guide and commentaries. The images are courtesy of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, and it's available in both English and Italian.
