British shoe company Clarks is using messaging app WhatsApp to target a younger audience for its Desert Boots, in a campaign that allows people to "text" key figures from the iconic item's history and receive replies. People can text Nathan Clark, who first brought the suede and crepe boots back from Egypt to his family firm, 1960s Mod Steve Barrow, reggae artist Stitch and 1960s Paris photographer Bruno Barbey. Iin return, they receive images, playlists, videos and messages about the cultural moments Desert Boots played a part in.This teaser video directs people to the WhatsApp numbers.
