British actors Charles Dance, Jason Isaacs, Miranda Richardson and David Gyasi recite a poem about preserving nature from climate change in a new three-minute film from the U.K.'s Climate Coalition.
Airing in the Picturehouse chain of cinemas as well as online, the spot was directed by Stuart Rideout at RSA directly for the Climate Coalition. It shows the actors reading words written by prize-winning poet Anthony Anaxagorou, to a backdrop of footage both from nature and from more everyday modern life (a roaring motorway, or Dance drinking a cup of coffee in a cafe as the rain pours outside). It features a soundtrack by British group Elbow, which has dedicated "Magnificent (She Says)," a track from its newly released album "Little Fictions" to the project, and the amateur Lewisham and Greenwich NHS choir.
Rideout said in a statement: "We are entering difficult times in terms of how the world views and reacts to climate change. Engagement with the subject is more important now than ever. We wanted to take the viewer on an emotional journey, from our impact on the world around us, making us aware of our place within our environment, to reminding us how incredible our planet is."
