CNN: Ecosphere

Feeding the tree of tweets.

Published on Nov 29, 2011

Editor's Pick

Ecosphere is a Twitter visualization tool launched by CNN to mark the COP17 climate change conference in Durban, beginning this week and running for three weeks. The site monitors every new tweet tagged with hashtag #COP17 and uses it to visualize growth. Once you have submitted a tweet about climate change the Ecosphere will feed it into a plant representing that specific topic or discussion, causing it to grow a little more. The Ecosphere will culminate in Durban with an installation piece at conference that renders the site as a 3D holographic image.

The project is the work of Stinkdigital, Amsterdam-based multidisciplinary studio Minivegas and advertising agency Heimat Berlin.
