The 'Internet of Things' Meets Coke Bottles and Drones ... and Magic Happens

In this newly released case study video, an innovative promotion from Coca-Cola Israel lights up the sky.

Working with Gefen Team and Qdigital, Coca-Cola showed off special bottles during Coca-Cola Summer Love, a camp-like event for teenagers held each year in Ganei Huga. Opening a bottle sent a Wi-Fi signal to one of three drones programmed to fly up to a height of 1,000 feet and release a firework resembling a shooting star.

One teenager called to the stage to open a connected bottle was asked to make a wish on his "shooting star." He wanted to DJ at a big party -- and Coke made that wish come true by inviting him to mix a set at a Summer Love party that night.

"As always, in every event we hold, the emphasis was all about innovation," said Coca-Cola Israel VP-Marketing Alon Zamir in a statement. "The bottles series was created under the notion of 'Internet of Things' and by making a star fall using a Coca-Cola bottle, we could intensify the teenagers' experience when interacting with the Coca-Cola brand."

Gefen Team recently worked on another innovative Coke Israel campaign, allowing people to print out miniature 3D figurines of themselves.
