Travel brand Contiki is combining YouTube content, Google Maps and Street View technology in a virtual game, ThisWayToAmazing, which offers consumers the opportunity to win a trip to Europe.
Players log in with Facebook Connect, then watch a series of clue videos and use a Google Maps & Street View mashup on the site to find travelers in a different European destination each week. They walk the streets of Europe in Street View until they find the travelers, who are built into a custom panorama revealing the end location. On the way, they are provided with hints and tips, as well as a compass device that helps point them in the right direction. The game highlights experiences around food, fashion, music and the arts.
Built by London and Cape Town-based digital development agency Unboxed Consulting, it follows Contiki's Pin Me If You Can campaign last year, through Poke London, which also made use of mapping to help players locate travelers.
