DC Comics has launched a commercial promoting the very controversial prequel series to 'Watchmen,' dubbed 'Before Watchmen.'

The series, which debuts on June 6, will focus on the histories of the characters of Watchmen. The commercial features artwork from the comic books, animated with some special effects by Motherland.

The controversy surrounding the work is a question of artistic integrity, since Alan Moore, the creator of the hugely popular comics, has voiced his opposition to the project. Those against the project argue that its the tendency of those in the entertainment business to give anything and everything the "franchise" treatment, while others say that this is only happening because fans want it to.
