Deutsche Post: Text Stamps

The Postman Always Texts Twice

Editor's Pick

Philatelists beware - could this spell the end of the road for traditional stamps? Letter writers in Scandinavia will soon be able to request a unique code via text message, which they'll write on their envelope before mailing instead of affixing a stamp.

The system, from Deutsche Post, has been available in Germany for a while, but at a premium price point. However, cellphone stamps which will launch in Denmark and Sweden later this year will cost the same as normal first class stamps.
