Jimmy Choo, Ferragamo and More Recreate Cinderella's Glass Slipper for Disney

Retail Shoe Designs Play Off Upcoming Live-Action Movie

If Cinderella were going to the ball today, which designer footwear would she choose? Disney, which is gearing up for the release of its new live-action "Cinderella" movie, must have wondered, too. The company asked nine luxury designers, including Jimmy Choo and Salvatore Ferragamo, to come up with designs for the fairy tale's glass slipper. Each designer brand has created its own interpretation of the shoe, and the results will be on sale in stores including Saks Fifth Avenue and London's Harrods.

The shoe designers are Paul Andrew, Alexandre Birman, Rene Caovilla, Jimmy Choo, Salvatore Ferragamo, Nicholas Kirkwood, Charlotte Olympia, Jerome C. Rousseau and Stuart Weitzman. Meanwhile Swarovski, which produced the glass slipper in the actual film under the direction of costume designer Sandy Powell, provided the crystals featured in the designers' shoes. The film, directed by Kenneth Branagh and starring Lily James (Lady Rose in "Downton Abbey"), opens March 27.
