Even in a princess dress, you can be swinging from monkey bars, riding a bike or holding a friend on your shoulders. That's the message conveyed by a feisty new spot from Disney in the U.K., that aims to empower young girls by encouraging them to "be amazing."
The spot, created in-house and directed by Steven Hore, is narrated by little girls and shows them playing, both inside and outdoors, some dressed in different Disney costumes from Minnie Mouse ears to Olaf from "Frozen." It's full of empowering lines like "We're strong," "Bring it on" and "We got this," and there's nothing "girly" about the imagery, which includes a little one swinging from monkey bars in the pouring rain, and another holding a snail.
Running on Disney Channel and Disney Junior in the U.K., it's part of Disney's ongoing work to empower young girls with its "Dream Big Princess" campaign. The initiative is focused on modernizing what a princess is, by highlighting qualities such as determination and courageousness to encourage young girls think bigger with their ambitions.
