Dixie Calls for End to 'Salad Shaming' in Funny Fourth of July Spot

Dudes Like Their Greens Too, Says Picnic Plate Brand

The Fourth of July holiday is traditionally barbecue time in the U.S., but this spot from picnic plate and cup maker Dixie takes a humorous, and different, approach to outdoor eating by pointing out that some all- American guys actually enjoy eating salad.

The ad, by Droga5, calls for an end to "salad shaming" among men by pointing out that some guys just like to "eat salad with our dude friends." That might be because they've had enough barbecued meat, or they just feel like some endive. The spot shows a bunch of guys at a picnic loading up their Dixie plates with greens, with lines like "no regrets, just vinaigrettes."

The spot is running on social media, and Dixie has also shared a Facebook carousel "spinning" between different salad recipes and calls-to-action for men to eat salads together.
