Idle Phone Displays Become Ad Space With This Innovative Swedish App

Doctors of the World Asks People to Donate Their Battery Life

Editor's Pick

Humanitarian organization Doctors of the World is hoping people will turn their smartphone screensavers into ad space for good causes, with an app called Screen Donor. The NGO's Swedish branch came up with the idea when it lacked funds for an ad campaign; the idea is that screens left on tables in coffee shops, meetings and so forth all over Sweden automatically become media instead of going into sleep mode. All the user donates is their battery life. Stockholm agency JMW and production company Iveo worked on the app pro bono.
