Domino's Pizza is stretching beyond simply airing Ferris Bueller-themed marketing by airing the movie itself.
In April, Domino's began running ads that recreate elements of "Ferris Bueller's Day Off." In the spots, "Stranger Things" actor Joe Keery plays the role of a modern-day Ferris who tracks his pizza order with the Domino's Tracker. Those ads, from Domino's creative agency CP&B, had to follow one rule -- they could mimic elements of John Hughes' Paramount Pictures classic, but the words "Ferris Bueller" could not be used.
Now, Domino's fans are likely to hear lines including "Bueller … Bueller" on their mobile phones or other devices, at least for one night.
Domino's plans to stream the entire movie on Facebook Live on June 11, coinciding with the 31st anniversary of its June 11, 1986, movie theater debut.
And to entice viewers to eat while they view, Domino's plans to offer a 20% discount code for online pizza orders with a code shared at the beginning of the movie. The discount is said to increase in value if more people tune in.
The nation's second-largest pizza chain said it is working with cable network EPIX for what it's touting as its inaugural National Movie Night. The movie will begin airing at 7 p.m. EDT via Facebook Live.
EPIX, meanwhile, is set to give 30-day free trials to its site and app to people who place online orders with Domino's from June 12 through June 25.
Of course, "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" is one of the many movies in its library.
