It seems there is no end to the marketing around this year's Shark Week on the Discovery Channel. The latest promotion sees Dunkin' Donuts creating a Shark Week-inspired donut and launching an interactive competition around the programming.
From August 4, Dunkin restaurants nationwide will sell the Shark Bite Donut, which features a yeast ring donut topped with white and red icing designed to resemble a life preserver. To promote it, customers are being invited to joins an online competition dubbed "Take a Bite, Take a Pic." Anyone who shares a selfie taking a bite out of a Donut on Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #DDSharkWeek is eligible to win prizes including a $100 Dunkin' Donuts Card and a Shark Week Prize Pack. Participants could be featured on Discovery Channel's "Shark After Dark" and the winning pictures also may be featured on Dunkin' Donuts' billboard in Times Square.
