Editor's Pick

Japanese landscape design company Earthscape Inc. created the sustainable Medical Herbman Cafe Project, a giant human-shaped herb garden that brings fresh produce and locally created products to the community.

Supplies for growing the Medical Herbman arrive at their cultivation spots via a shipping container. Herbs are planted in a human-shaped garden—where they grow depends on which body part they benefit. The shipping containers are transformed into cafes that sell food and drink created with the herbs. They also serve as an event spaces for herb-related workshops.

When Herbman has run its course, everything is packed back up into the container and the project heads out to its next destination. Cafe proceeds go to building playgrounds for children around the world.

So far, the HMCP has made three stops in Japan and is deciding on its next destination for the spring. The project also has plans to eventually go overseas.
