RedLaser, the barcode and QR code scanning mobile app owned by eBay, is promoting its mobile app with the RedLaser Games, a holiday themed sweepstakes promotion.
The campaign, by San Francisco agency Swirl, is being promoted online, on TV and on Facebook, fronted by the new character of 'Redd Laser', an 'athletic trainer', replete with a red sweatband and wristbands and group of 'friends' (actually mannequins), who educates consumers how RedLaser can be used.
Participants use the RedLaser list feature to create their own holiday wish list and scan at least five items to add to it. They then click 'share' and e-mail their lists to firstname.lastname@example.org. Each week, one person wins the products listed on Redd's Holiday Wish List along with $2,500 for items he or she has selected.
