Metallica Has Nothing to Do After Mariano Rivera's Retirement

Band Seeks New Gig in Latest from ESPN's 'This is SportsCenter' Campaign

Editor's Pick

Now that he's retired, pitcher Mariano Rivera has no need for Metallica's "Enter the Sandman" to herald his entrance into Yankees stadium, so the band is now looking for a new gig in this latest laffer from the ESPN "This is SportsCenter" and Wieden & Kennedy, New York. The bandmembers sit twiddling their thumbs in the broadcaster's bland offices, entertaining stints with Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski and golfer John Daly --- only, in the end, to be rejected.

The spot debuted last night during Gilette's Home Run Derby.
