Gatwick Express: Express Tracks

Train ride gets its own soundtrack.

Published on Jun 21, 2012

Editor's Pick

The scenery outside the Gatwick Express's journey from London Victoria to the aforementioned UK airport might not quite rival the Orient Express, but the train operator and agency VCCP having a valiant try at making it more interesting by creating a special soundtrack for passengers' journeys. Express Tracks is three 30 minute tracks that synch exactly with the view from the window.

As you glide through the South London suburbs and the Sussex countryside, you can listen to tracks specially created by dub-step artist and Radio 1 DJ 'Benga' (shown here in a mini YouTube documentary) composer and cellist Philip Sheppard and indie band The Milk. Customers can download one for free when they book online. On the website, they can listen to samples by each artist at different points on the journey, which is mapped out on-screen.
