An Inventive Little Girl Grows Up to Be a GE Scientist in This Charming Spot

Brand Continues Focus on Female Inventors in Ad by BBDO

Folowing its Oscars ad, in which it imagined that a female scientist had celebrity status, GE continues the theme of women in science in a new spot that sees a modern little girl growing up into an inventor.

It's the story of Molly, an ingenious little girl who finds inventive ways of making her chores easier: from designing a pulley to take out the trash to delivering girl scout cookie boxes from her bedroom. It's not that she's lazy; she's more interested in reading (presumably firing her imagination about how to invent more cool stuff).

As she grows up, it continues; in high school, she invents a robotic arm to turn the pages of her textbook, and finally, we see her as a scientist at GE, doing the same kind of thing on a much larger and more important scale. "That's amazing," her colleague tells her, and she replies "Thank you" -- presumably getting the kind of recognition that she lacked as a kid, when her parents probably hated her tearing out their doorbell.

The spot is by BBDO New York, and Lance Acord at Park Pictures directed.
