Editor's Pick

Sam Taylor-Johnson, the artist, photographer and "Fifty Shades of Grey" film director, directs her husband, "Nocturnal Animals" actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson in a stylish new black-and-white spot for men's fragrance Givenchy Gentleman.

The ad, produced by Hey Wonderful, starts with Taylor-Johnson looking bored and thoughtful at a smart dinner party in a country manor. After sniffing a white spray of flowers, he crushes it and then gets the party started. As he dances through a palazzo-type setting to '90s classic "Enjoy Yourself," by A+, he's joined by various cool dancers, including American model and dancer Aaron Doucette, and model Elizabeth Salt, who plays a girl who eventually pushes Taylor-Johnson (flirtatiously) into a fountain. Sam Taylor-Johnson has also shot the print work for the brand.

According to Givenchy, which has updated the original 1975 fragrance with new notes and modern packaging including a black lacquer cap, the casting of Taylor-Johnson as the new Givenchy Gentleman reflects a "cool and sexy archetype whose masculinity doesn't preclude sensitivity or generosity." The press release descries him as having the "effortless elegance of the modern-day dandy."

It's certainly, cool, edgy and unquestionably less cheesy than your typical men's fragrance ad. Oh, and to emphasize that sensitive side, look out for the adorable kitten.
