Break Out of Google's Escape Room, But Only by Using Its Apps

French Campaign Taps Into Popular Adventure Game Trend

Google France has tapped into the popular "Escape Room" adventure game concept by building its own physical "Escape Room" and inviting people to try and break out of it using its own apps.

The Escape Room, called Premiere Piece, is running until May 29 at a secret location in Paris. People apply to take part at the website, which states that among other things, "curiosity and team spirit" are required. Those selected are invited to help a crew of digital artists locked in a workshop, who are set to present a masterpiece at an art center in Paris. Users work together to unlock an object that will make the crew's art complete, and have 40 minutes to escape by solving puzzles using Google apps Search, Maps, Translate, Photos, Arts & Culture and Cardboard, all of which have been integrated into the gameplay.

Even if you didn't get selected to take part, you can still experience on it Google France's social media channels. Those following Premiere Piece on social media will be able to get involved with the experience by unlocking Escape Room-themed riddles shared by Google.

The campaign was created by We Are Social. Sandrine Plasseraud, managing director, We Are Social, said in a statement: "Google France is passionate about inspiring people to discover, experience and make the most of their own cities and elsewhere and many of its tools have been designed to help make this easier. This campaign shows off these applications and products to their full potential, while tapping into one of the biggest trends right now in the Escape Room concept."
