If you're not familiar with urban exploration or "urbex" -- a trend for the exploration of man-made structures -- then you can find out about it now thanks to a 360-video project by Google France.
The brand and agency AKQA have developed #GoogleCuriocité, a project hosted on Google's Arts and Culture platform, that encourages people to get off the beaten track in cities and use technology to enhance their experience.
The first episode, seen here, is a mini-documentary that features David De Rueda, urban explorer and photographer, who shares the urbex philosophy in a walk around Paris, encouraging the viewer to develop his or her own taste for exploration and photography and get a new perspective on their city. It can be experienced as a 360-degree video on YouTube. The series will feature other cities later this year.
To support the project, Google partnered with Red Bull to distribute 20,000 Google Cardboards to Vice magazine and Red Bulletin's readers in France. It is also holding real-life urbex experiences in locations across Paris later this month.
