Google has just made it easier to translate text on an Android smartphone with a new app, Tap to Translate. As explained in this video, until now it's been tricky to translate languages on a phone, involving opening and closing of different apps and a lot of cutting and pasting. With Tap to Translate, you can quickly translate text on screen by copying it -- for example if you're in a WhatsApp conversation and someone replies in a different language -- and a pop-up window will take it from there. You can even reply in that language, even if you don't speak it.
