Last year, Diane von Furstenberg teamed up with Google during the New York Fashion Week, and had her models strut down the runway wearing a Google Glass. That project culminated in a film that was made out of the videos captured by the eyewear.

Now, Google teams up with her again, along with the Council of Fashion Designers of America, on Google+ Hangouts on Air, a new platform that adds an e-commerce layer to the livechat application. The shopping hangouts arrive just in time for the holiday season and will allow designers and retailers to engage with customers directly while they sell their products.

As president of the CFDA, Diane von Furstenberg will kick off the effort on October 3 at 8 p.m. EST, when consumers will be able to shop her new Fall collection while getting her input and insight. Later, other CFDA members including Rebecca Minkoff, celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe and Marcus Wainwright and David Neville of Rag & Bone will join the program.
