Google/Kit Kat: Kit Kat Android Facebook Post

Finally, a brand joins the long list of Google's confectionary code words

Google Android is notoriously sweet-toothed. Its developers have code-named each iteration of the operating system after a delicious treat. It all started with version 1.5, dubbed Cupcake, then moved on to Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Froyo -- and now, for the first time ever, a branded confection--Kit Kat!

Given the progression, it seems it was only a matter of time before the Silicon Valley marketer hooked up with a famous sweets maker. Head of Android development Sundar Pichai shared on Google+ this image, which shows a Kit-Kat shaped robot statue joining its predecessors in the Candy Land that is the lawn of Building 44 of the Googleplex, where Android is developed.

Nestle's Kit-Kat also made the announcement on its Facebook page, featuring an image of a specially-branded Google edition of the candy bar.
