Hasbro's 'Empire' Version of Classic Game is Powered by Brands

Goodbye, Shoe, Top Hat and Boardwalk. The brands have taken over Hasbro's Monopoly. In the toy marketer's latest game reboot, Monopoly Empire, players will now roam the board as a Coke bottle, an Xbox controller, a Corvette Stingray, a Ducati, McDonald's Fries or a Paramount Pics movie clapboard. Also, where there was once real estate the playing board now features brands such as Spotify, EA Sports, Intel, Jet Blue, Samsung and others. The goal? Instead of collecting properties, each player must fill a tower with the billboards of brands he or she owns. Roadblocks come in the form of hostile takeovers or stock market crashes, and each game must be completed in fewer than 30 minutes.
