A Ketchup and Mustard Love Story, Courtesy of Heinz

Campaign Launches Reformulated Condiment as the Only Partner for the Red Stuff

Editor's Pick

Although the idea might sound a bit incestuous, Heinz is now saying that the best partner for its ketchup is a condiment bearing the same brand name: Heinz Mustard. In an effort to get consumers thinking about what they spread alongside the red stuff on burgers and hotdogs, Heinz tapped agency David to create this ridiculous love story.

Three spots feature Heinz Ketchup and newly found love Heinz Mustard. Unfortunately, Heinz Ketchup's ex, no-name mustard, can't handle it. In some low moments, the off-brand mustard mimics Heinz mustard, tears her house apart over the break-up and shows up at 4 a.m. to win Heinz Ketchup back. Resisting the no-name mustard's antics in the latter, Heinz Ketchup says the late visit is in poor taste.

"I can have better taste!" the jealous off-brand mustard cries before her ketchup ex-boyfriend slams the door on her.

Directed by Jeff Lowe, the spots are part of the launch of a new reformulated Heinz mustard.
