Skeletor, the skull-faced villain of '80s cartoon classic Masters of the Universe, gets serious in his attempt to dominate Honda's Toy-themed holiday campaign with a "#Skeletakeover" of the brand's Instagram page. It's his latest bad guy move following his recent hijacking of the auto brand's Twitter page.
Earlier this month, along with agency RPA, Honda launched an online video campaign starring some of our favorite stars from classic animated shows. Along with a Youtube video featuring MOTU's Skeletor and his good guy foe He-Man as bros, they've also debuted holiday-themed clips starring GI Joe and Gem, and Gumby and Pokey.
Each film is attached to a different charity (The Little League Urban Initiative, the Children's Hospital of Orange Country and Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, respectively) and the video that earns the most views will earn a $50,000 donation from Honda.
The animated videos follow the brand's toy-themed TV spots that launched last month, which featured the playthings promoting Happy Honda Days sales event.
