Hotels.com Is More 'Rewarding' Than Binge Watching in Its Latest Captain Obvious Spots

New Ads Promote Travel Brand's Rewards Program

Having run for President last year, Hotels.com spokesperson Captain Obvious is back in another set of comedic ads from the travel brand by Crispin Porter & Bogusky. This time, he's pointing out how Hotels.com's Reward Program is more rewarding than a lot of modern habits -- like binge watching, for example.

In the spot seen here, a binge-watching couple who just finished "10 seasons in one sitting" realize their ceiling is full of spider webs and they've missed Grandpa's 99th birthday -- as well as his funeral, not to mention the guy has inadvertently grown a beard. "Binge watching isn't always rewarding," observes Captain Obvious. "But Hotels.com is." Other quirky spots highlight internet dating, and obeying a drill instructor (who's deeply suspicious of the captain.)

The TV ads were directed by Ruben Fleischer at Caviar L.A. A wider campaign will include radio spots, social videos and gifs, an interactive online video, social influencer partnerships, and interviews with Captain Obvious at Radio Row in Phoenix during the college basketball tournament.
